The five methods

What Dr. Geri combines in a single visit

Model of the lumbar spine showing vertebrae and discs, used in Dr. Geri’s chiropractic care

Chiropractic

Restoring motion and normalizing circulation through the spine and joints — for back pain, sciatica, neck pain, posture problems and the congestion of circulation that comes from prolonged sitting, standing or driving.

Acupuncture model marked with meridian lines and acupuncture points

Acupuncture

Releasing muscle tension, blocked circulation and qi/energy flow, thereby harmonizing and balancing the body and emotions — creating a deep sense of calm, naturally.

Deep Muscle Therapy

Focused hands-on work to normalize circulation and release spasm, stiffness and the tension patterns that keep pulling joints back out of alignment.

Chinese Herbology

Specific Chinese herbal formulas to tonify and balance the meridians — constitutional warming formulas in winter, liver-harmonizing formulas in spring, lung support in autumn.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Meridian theory, the Five Elements and the Meridian Clock provide the diagnostic map that tells Dr. Geri where the imbalance actually lies — not just where it hurts.

Scalp acupressure & acupuncture

There are more acupressure points on the head than anywhere else in the body. Tense scalp muscles and fascia can compress delicate nerves and blood supply, showing up as irritability, anxiety, eye fatigue, pain, headaches, TMJ and unclear thinking. Scalp work rebalances that energy, leaving a sense of calm and vitality.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Balancing emotional health, not just structure

Ideally, all the organs and meridians of the body operate in balance and emotions are calm and appropriate to life’s situations. However, when the qi/energy in our meridians gets out of balance, some people may experience anxiety, worry and other difficult emotional states.

In Chinese Medicine these imbalances may manifest as follows:

  • Liver meridian. Imbalance can cause excessive anger, irritability, frustration, impatience or depression. Balanced liver qi helps us to be relaxed, patient, emotionally even, and feeling a smooth flow of plans going forward.
  • Heart meridian. Imbalance may cause anxiety, panic attacks, palpitations and insomnia. Balanced, it creates calm and relaxed emotions.
  • Spleen meridian. Imbalance brings excessive worry and a tendency to overthink. When balanced we have clear, crisp thinking at a normal pace.
  • Lung meridian. Imbalance can cause prolonged grief, sadness or melancholy. When balanced there is a general feeling of flow, able to move through our feelings with contentment.
  • Kidney meridian. Imbalance can manifest with excess fear and worry, loss of will and determination. When balanced we are calm and able to proceed forward with ease and confidence.

The combination of Acupuncture and specific Chinese Herbal Formulas helps to restore optimal qi/energy flow and balance emotional health.

The Meridian Clock

In Chinese Medicine the Meridian Clock is one of the diagnostic tools used to determine where the body’s imbalances lie. Each meridian comes into its highest action at a certain time of day. So if you notice fatigue at a certain time, or you awaken at a specific time and can’t go back to sleep, those are indicators of an imbalance in those meridians. The combination of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs helps to tonify and balance them.

Seasonal tune-ups

The ancient Chinese believed the seasons have a profound cyclical effect on human growth and well-being, and that we should live in harmony with them. Spring belongs to the Wood element and the liver/gallbladder meridians; summer to Fire; autumn to the Lung; winter to the Kidney. Seasonal Acupuncture and Chiropractic tune-ups, paired with the right herbal formula, keep the body prepared for the season ahead.
